BACK TO BACK HITS (GRE- series)

In the early 70ies Warner Brothers, having the rights to the Beach Boys catalogue of their 1966-1970 Capitol-output, also started a reissue programme. Most of them were released under the Back-to-Back series.

Warner/Reprise didn't use different sleeves for their reissue program. The company sleeve is usually the standard Warner/Reprise sleeve as can be seen below.

There was a chance though that an early 1973 releases was accompanied by a different sleeve. One of the releases shown below - the GRE 0103 Good Vibes/H&V - was purchased at the time with this very sleeve. The sleeve has a lighter crème colour compared to the regular sleeve. The Warner/Reprise with a red stripe in between is now shown above the center hole. The back side shows an add for the promotional double album "Hot Platters" (WB PRO 474). This album was released in September 1971 and contained the Beach Boys track "Feel Flows". It can be assumed that this promotional was used more around this time. Your moderator has a copy of the regular REP 1101 Marcella/Hold On Dear Brother 45 with this very sleeve. As this was a mid 1972 release, one can assume that the "Hot Platters"-sleeve was used for a longer period, albeit in a limited print.
